G+ JuiceThere’s a GREAT Meetup Group in the Raleigh / Cary area dedicated to SEO.  Phil Buckley @1918 runs it, and on May 29th, they will be talking about one of my favorite topics Google Plus.  I probably don’t have this right – but I would estimate that since we’ve been using G+, we have over 20% more traffic…READ… BE THERE! Mark Traphagen didn’t jump on the early Facebook or Twitter waves, but he caught the Google+ swell and is riding it to a new level of awesomeness as the Director of Social Media Marketing at Virante, one of the leading SEO agencies in the US.

If you rolled your eyes when you heard about Google+, it’s time to listen to someone who can show you what you’re missing and why you probably want to give it another look.

Pinterest and Real Estate

pinterest-logoI read an article that said Pinterest is bringing more hits to a website than Twitter is – and that got my attention!  I’d looked at it earlier, but I’m not the “Dream Board” kind of chick, and frankly, I didn’t get what all the hype was.

Then they made it possible to add Pinterest to the new Facebook Timeline, that meant right away that if we could figure out how to leverage the images we upload to Pinterest, it would be worth it!

So what it?  Pinterest is a Bookmarking Site that is really gaining in popularity!

REBarCamp Coming to Charlotte!

charlotte rebarcampThe next Real Estate BarCamp is coming to Charlotte in a few weeks!  Don’t know what a BarCamp is?  It’s just the way you hold a meeting.

The Camps in North Carolina normally happen in Charlotte in the Spring, and in Raleigh in the Fall.  There are normally 100 to 150 people who show up to share the latest information on what’s working – and what’s not.  It’s NOT a full day about Technology, but many of the sessions do focus on that, because people are interested in technology related topics!

Your Profiles – Do you Sound Like Brad?

Be Like FloI love the Progressive Commercials, Flo is just one of my favorites!  I can usually relate to her, and she makes me smile.  Recently they started running an ad where a guy is speaking about himself in 3rd Person.  He says, ” Brad needs Car Insurance, but Brad doesn’t want to pay too much.”  Flo asks the obvious question…

Who’s Brad??

When you are writing your Real Estate Profile for Trulia or Zillow or your website – you don’t want to be Brad… and you don’t want to sound like this:

“The “Brad Team” mission is to consistently provide the highest quality, most innovative, and exceptional real estate service available anywhere in the Phoenix area while specializing in the Maricopa East Valley Communities of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, Sun Lakes, Tempe, and Ahwatukee; and the Northern Pinal communities in Queen Creek and Maricopa.  If you’re looking for a moutain retreat, now also serving the White Mountain area including Show Low & Pinetop!”

The idea is that you can’t be EVERYTHING to EVERYONE… and if you CAN specialize in 5 counties, is there a better way to describe it so that the reader feels like you KNOW something about these various areas?  How about this:
“The Brad Team” is comprised of 4 members, Jane, Bob, Brad and Jenn.  Collectively, we’ve lived in the Phoenix area for over 100 years!  Each of us brings a unique perspective to this beautiful area, and because of that we can confidently show you property in any of our surrounding Communities.  But we don’t specialize in showing properties! Our knowledge of the area, and the history of the Real Estate Market in each Community, allows us to specialize in negotiating the BEST price on the RIGHT property for your family!”

So go back and re-read your profiles.  Make them relatable, You want to be more like FLO, and less like Brad!

Facebook Notifications with Timeline

I’ve had several people mention that they are not getting their Facebook notifications on their phone the way they thought they would. Now that Timeline is here – it’s a great time to review your settings anyway, so I’ve done screen shot examples, (ideas) of what you might want to set them for.

From Any Page in FacebookFrom any page on Facebook – go to the arrow on the far side (where you log out) and click on Account Settings.  Once there, click on “Mobile” on the left column to see that your mobile device is attached to your Facebook account.  If it’s not there – then you will need to take 5 minutes and add it (Facebook sends you a confirmation number that you will need to type in). Drop Box for Real Estate

install_graphicHave you heard people talking about “Working In The Clouds?”  Wonder what that means, and if it could help your Real Estate Business?  Dropbox is a great new service, and it’s a tool you should probably check out!  Imagine having a folder of information, just like the one you have in your file drawer somewhere, with every pdf file, every picture, every home inspection, HUD1 or anything else associated with that transaction – available to you from ANY computer, or your Smart Phone?  Well, that is exactly what you can get with Dropbox!

You won’t have to worry about your old computer at the office crashing and losing all of your information either!  Dropbox allows you to upload information to their “main frame” CLOUD, and gives you a SECURE access to it! [Read more...]

Twitter Dictionary

twitter iconMaybe you’ve talked to people who are addicted to Twitter, claim that they get all of their news from there, YES!  That’s me with my hand held up in the back!  I love it!  Here is an easy list of “Terms” that will make learning Twitter easier – kind of a “Twitter Dictionary.”

Before we start though, it’s important to understand what all of the Hype is about!  It’s easier than Text Messaging to just one person, no one minds if you update more than once or twice a day (like Facebook) and you can be in conversations with people you don’t know, who are talking about the same topic (like who is going to win the game, where to find a great cupcake in town, or where to park to watch Fireworks!)!  Twitter Conversations are “Hyper Local” and GLOBAL… and if you are focusing your marketing efforts on the demographics groups fascinated with this medium, you can definitely make friends, be part of the conversation and Generate Leads!
